Italy Freezes 2 Billion Euros in Assets of Russian and Belarusian Citizens

The Italian authorities have frozen the accounts, properties, and other assets of Belarusians and Russians due to imposed sanctions, totaling nearly 2 billion euros. This was reported by the head of the Department of Financial Information, Enzo Seratani.

This includes, among other things, villas, yachts, and luxury cars. "As of the end of June this year, 170 financial transactions have been frozen under the names of 80 entities. The total amount of frozen funds exceeds 330 million euros," Seratani stated in his annual report.

Earlier today, Didier Reynders, the European Commissioner for Justice, announced that the total amount of blocked Russian assets in Europe stands at 207 billion euros. He noted that the EU continues to discuss the issue of using the revenue from these assets to support Ukraine's reconstruction.

At the end of June, the European Union presented the 11th package of sanctions against Russia.
