Georgian Ambassador Asked to Return to Tbilisi from Kyiv: Reasons Revealed
Upon the instruction of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the Georgian ambassador to Ukraine has been summoned to the Foreign Ministry, where he was asked to return to Tbilisi for consultations.
The reason for this request is the deteriorating health condition of former Georgian President and Ukrainian citizen Mikheil Saakashvili, which was evident during yesterday's court session. The Georgian diplomat was told that the treatment of Mikheil Saakashvili in this manner is absolutely unacceptable. The authorities in Georgia need to stop mocking a Ukrainian citizen.
Georgian Ambassador to Ukraine, Giorgi Zacharashvili, has been invited to Tbilisi to discuss ways to resolve the current situation.
The Ukrainian side emphasized its readiness to urgently discuss the possibility of transferring Saakashvili to Ukraine for treatment and care.
The president of Georgia's ruling party, the Georgian Dream, Irakli Kobakhidze, deemed Kyiv's actions as “offensive.” “However, we want to maintain a one-sided friendly regime with the Ukrainian authorities, as that country is in a state of war,” Kobakhidze told reporters.
