David Babayan on the Situation in Artsakh and the Letter Sent to Putin

While the Azerbaijani leadership presents on all platforms that the Lachin corridor is not closed, 120,000 Armenians continue to be deprived of freedom, food, and medicine. Concurrently with the negotiations for a peace agreement, the Azerbaijani armed forces launched another military aggression, resulting in four casualties on the Armenian side.

Auroranews established a connection with David Babayan, the advisor to the President of the Artsakh Republic (AR), to clarify the current situation in Artsakh. “The situation has not changed; it remains the same—stable but serious. This is how we can characterize the situation in Artsakh. Politically, there is nothing new,” Babayan noted.

Addressing the statement of the head of the anti-crisis council of Artsakh, Tigran Petrosyan, regarding the letter sent by the AR president to Russian President Vladimir Putin, we tried to clarify what expectations exist. “To be honest, I am not aware, but the issue is that we periodically appeal to various countries, especially to the President of the Russian Federation. We simply have no other option, and we expect that there will be serious shifts in our region, especially concerning the fulfillment of the provisions of that infamous 2020 agreement. Adherence to these provisions is very important since we see how Azerbaijan violates everything. We want nothing more; this is the minimum that must be done, especially since there are legal grounds for it. The deeper this crisis goes, the more Azerbaijan’s appetite grows. We must understand this well. Various types of letters and discussions are important and have always been,” said Babayan.

According to the AR presidential advisor, one must always maintain optimism and have a professional and patriotic team; without this, it is difficult to face challenges. “I think the same is true everywhere; when there is a lack of professionalism or patriotism, even the strongest country can face dissolution,” concluded the AR advisor.
