Oil Spill Turns River Black in Usinsk

An oil spill has occurred in the Usinsk region of the Komi Republic due to a pipeline failure, with some of the oil products ending up in the Kolva River, reports the Readovka Telegram channel, referencing the republic's government.

"Today, a malfunction of the oil pipeline was detected on the tanker of Nobel Oil LLC located at the Yuzhno-Osh oil field," the report states.

They also added that as a result, oily liquid has spilled into the Kolva River, causing the river to turn black. In response to the incident, a "High Alert" regime has been introduced, and a response team is working at the site. A total of 18 people and four pieces of equipment have been deployed to eliminate the consequences of the incident.
