France National Team Players Address Protesters
The players of the France national football team have addressed the protesters in connection with the demonstrations occurring across the country.
“Like all French citizens, we were shocked by the brutal death of young Nahel. After that tragic event, we witnessed public outrage, which we understand, but we cannot justify the way it is being expressed. You are destroying your possessions, your neighborhoods, your cities, and the places where you can grow and be with people,” the letter states.
According to them, violence cannot solve issues, especially when it turns against the perpetrators of violence, their families, loved ones, and neighbors.
It should be noted that on the morning of June 27, police in Nantes, a suburb west of Paris, killed a 17-year-old teenager during a check, who, according to police reports, refused to comply with their demands. Following this incident, riots have erupted in several cities across France and have been ongoing for several days. Special police units have been deployed in various cities, and helicopters and armored vehicles have been put into action.
