Macron Calls on Social Media to Take Responsibility Amid Mass Unrest

French President Emmanuel Macron has urged popular social media platforms like TikTok and Snapchat to cooperate with authorities to stabilize the situation amid ongoing mass unrest in the country.

Violence erupted after police shot a 17-year-old Arab descent driver who failed to comply with demands from road patrol officers. “In the coming hours, we will take measures necessary to remove provocative content from these platforms,” Macron stated.

According to him, online platforms play a critical role during these times, and it is essential that they are not used for criminal purposes. A crisis committee has decided to implement certain restrictions on movement throughout the country. In Paris, there is speculation that the government may declare a state of emergency in France.
