Arsen Torosyan Summoned for Questioning, Has Not Yet Appeared: 'Zhoghovurd'

According to the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd', the Anti-Corruption Committee has sent a notification to MP Arsen Torosyan from the ruling Civil Contract party, but he has not yet appeared before the pre-investigation body. We learned that Torosyan, who repeatedly declared that he demanded to be questioned, is now not showing up for the Anti-Corruption Committee. According to information from 'Zhoghovurd', the MP is coordinating the day and time of his questioning with the investigator, causing further delays in the process.

It is worth recalling that last year on November 22, 'Zhoghovurd' reported that an internal discussion had taken place within the law enforcement system about inviting MP and former Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan for questioning by the Anti-Corruption Committee. This means that the pre-investigation body was prepared to send a notification to Torosyan, but it was noted that the time to bring charges against him had not yet matured. A number of significant circumstances have already emerged from the criminal case.

According to our sources, the Anti-Corruption Committee is actively questioning employees of the 'Grigor Lusavorich' Medical Center during these days.

What criminal case is being discussed? Based on the data obtained in the criminal proceedings, the government of the Republic of Armenia allocated more than 26 billion Armenian drams for the implementation of measures aimed at the prevention, control, and treatment of the new coronavirus infection (Covid-19), which was entirely funded from the government’s reserve fund. Under this program, a list of medical organizations providing medical care and services eligible for reimbursement from the state budget for the diagnosis and treatment of the COVID-19 disease was approved by the Minister of Health in 2020, which also included 'Medline Clinic' LLC.
