Azerbaijan Must Lift the Blockade of Artsakh and End the Growing Humanitarian Crisis: Amnesty International
Azerbaijani authorities must lift the blockade of Artsakh and end the growing humanitarian crisis, stated the international human rights organization Amnesty International on its Twitter account.
The organization reminded that on June 15, Azerbaijan halted all movements through the Lachin Corridor, the only road connecting the isolated Artsakh to Armenia. The region has been under blockade since December 2022.
In a subsequent tweet, Amnesty International noted that on June 26, the International Committee of the Red Cross was permitted to resume the evacuation of seriously ill patients. However, it also highlighted that there is a severe shortage of medicines and medical supplies in hospitals.
The international human rights organization reports that since then, the residents of Artsakh have relied on Russian peacekeeping forces and humanitarian aid from the Red Cross. Azerbaijani soldiers are currently blocking the exit and entry of aid convoys, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh.
