“The Number of Buses in Yerevan Should Always Be Close to the Planned Figures”: Tigran Avinyan
During a procedural meeting at the Yerevan City Hall, the director of ‘Yerevan Bus’ LLC, Hovhannes Manukyan, stated: “In terms of percentage, the number of public transport vehicles is 10.1% less than the vehicles that are actually deployed on the routes.”
Yerevan Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan responded that being 11% below the planned figures is a very poor indicator. “The main function of ‘Yerevan Bus’ LLC is to service public transport and organize that transport. Thus, requests from our other partners and using buses in different directions are not encouraged if there are deviations from the plan. If there are additional buses, then we can assist our other partners. But the number of buses in Yerevan should always be close to the planned figures; everything else is derivative because everyone has their own function. When we do not fulfill our function, the problem deepens and increases,” said Avinyan, adding that if fewer buses are deployed, the intervals will get longer, and people will be delayed from work.
