You Are a Political Corpse, Whose Funeral We Attend Daily: Alen Simonyan to the Opposition
I want to share something with you this Saturday. This is stated by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, on his Facebook page.
“Good evening, I want to share something with you this Saturday. Today we said our final farewell to MP Vigen Khachatryan. I do not even want to talk about who he was and what contribution he made to Armenia’s political field for decades. He passed away as an elected MP of the National Assembly, yet not a single representative from the opposition attended either the funeral service or the burial. They did not even dare to make a note in the open book of condolences in the National Assembly.
This does not diminish Khachatryan's identity or the level of respect he deserves; it demonstrates the character of our opposition members who worked with him for years in the same hall and committees—the tone of hatred and the quality of those who attribute various sins to us. You are afraid of yourselves, of the person sitting next to you, of the no-ones living and insulting on Facebook.
You have lost, you have lost and will continue to lose, because you do not understand simple, basic human matters, and you fear losing what you have long since not possessed. You are not a political opposition to us; you are a political burden we carry, perhaps as a punishment for the mistakes we made in the past years. You are a political corpse, whose funeral we attend daily. God be your judge,” he stated.
