Different types of elections play a major role in the deformation of Yerevan's architectural appearance. This was stated by Mesrop Arakelyan, co-founder of the 'Living Country' party.

“In every yard, there is a building, a floor on a building, that is the result of election entrepreneurship. For the authorities, the work during elections has mainly been about leasing garages, kiosks, constructing floors on buildings, and encroaching on parks and other public spaces.

It seemed that the system of election entrepreneurs (dassovshiks) should have long been a thing of the past, but day by day, figures who have worked for all times of power are becoming active again, now advocating for the current authorities by saying, ‘for the construction permit given to our brother.’ Of course, they also know well that their activity only harms the authorities, and society will reject them alongside these authorities once more.

However, alongside all this, Yerevan continues to deteriorate gradually due to unclear construction permits and the ensuing constructions,” the statement reads.
