“We Hope the Situation Will Be Resolved”: FIFA Representative on Russian Football

FIFA has expressed hope that the troubling situation surrounding Russian football will be resolved. This was stated by Heidi Behan, head of FIFA's European National Associations division, at the Russia Football Union conference.

“Thank you for the invitation to the RFU conference. I would like to welcome you on behalf of FIFA's president and secretary general,” she said.

“The past year has been very difficult, and we hope that the situation will improve and a resolution will be found. The World Cup demonstrated that it can unite players and fans. The numerous records and surprises at the World Cup held in Qatar were noteworthy. FIFA carries a significant responsibility, and we are striving to work for the development of football.”

“On behalf of FIFA, I would like to thank you for your important work. The year 2023 is dedicated to women's football, and we are making gradual efforts to elevate the level of women's soccer. Of course, there is a foundation and tradition of women's football in Russia. I wish you successful work at today's conference,” added Heidi Behan.
