Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Responds to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's Statements
Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry has responded to statements made by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during today’s cabinet meeting.
The Azerbaijani foreign policy agency has "decisively rejected" Pashinyan's remarks from the June 22 cabinet meeting, where he claimed that Azerbaijan has unlawfully imposed a blockade on the Lachin corridor, contrary to a ruling by the International Court of Justice.
According to the statement, "despite the creation of appropriate conditions for the transparent and safe passage of individuals of Armenian descent living in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region through the Lachin border checkpoint in both directions," on June 15, "provocations by the Armenian armed forces disrupted the safe passage through the Lachin border checkpoint."
The diplomatic agency of the state frequently firing in the border areas with Armenia and Artsakh stated that "the Armenian side resorts to such provocations after losing the opportunity to act unlawfully along the Lachin road since 2020."
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry called the accusations of ethnic cleansing directed at Azerbaijan an example of duplicity.
The Azerbaijani side also addressed the issue of dialogue between Baku and Stepanakert, labeling it as an "internal affair of Azerbaijan."
