Armen Ashotyan's Article from Nubarashen Penitentiary

Vice President of the Republican Party of Armenia, Armen Ashotyan, believes that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made a self-incriminating admission during the meeting of the investigative commission studying the circumstances of the 44-day war, asserting that he had engaged in geopolitical maneuvers that incited the war not only before but also during the 44-day conflict, worsening the situation for Armenia. Ashotyan wrote about this in his article published from Nubarashen Penitentiary.

“He had the opportunity to at least temporarily cease the war but rejected it, even though he often claimed that we supposedly had no army, and that defeat was 'inevitable.' Furthermore, during those days, he was preparing the Lele Tepe operation while almost directly announcing through foreign media the 'ongoing actions that would change the course of the war.' As later revealed, that disastrous operation broke the back of the Armenian Armed Forces' reserves, leading to irreversible consequences,” he wrote.

According to Ashotyan, Pashinyan's own assessments of the events surrounding October 19, 2020, and his hasty remarks contain numerous false and questionable claims. “When discussing the issue of Shushi, Nikol states that he was already 'predicting' the possible blockade of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan at that time. Agree that this is a pinnacle of hypocrisy because this newly minted clairvoyant, according to himself, by foreseeing such an issue, did not lift a finger to prevent it during the post-war period, and, violating the relevant provisions of the November 9 agreement, willingly and ahead of time agreed to Azerbaijan's trap regarding the construction of a new road and the handover of Lachin and surrounding villages to Azerbaijan,” Ashotyan stated.

The justification for rejecting the proposal to cease hostilities on October 19, according to Ashotyan, also does not withstand scrutiny as such a provision is included in point 9 of the November 9 trilateral statement regarding ensuring the safety of those potential communications by the Russian FSB.

“The history of the American ceasefire on October 25, in its logic, repeats the justifications of the French one—clean in form and dirty in content—a geopolitical flirt that also weighed heavily on our army,” he wrote.

The Vice President of the Republican Party notes that throughout this entire narrative, Nikol Pashinyan has not presented a single instance where the West would undertake responsibility to punish the aggressive Azerbaijan or initiate a complete cessation of hostilities. In conclusion, Armen Ashotyan labeled Pashinyan's speech during the session of the investigative commission studying the circumstances of the 44-day war as a fabricated speech about a fabricated war.
