Prosecutors Recorded on Wiretap, Dismissals Occurred

The newspaper "Jhoghovurd" reports that law enforcement agencies in Armenia are operating under conditions of wiretapping. According to exclusive information from "Jhoghovurd," prosecutors have been dismissed from their positions as a result of wiretaps, and some are facing internal investigations.

Specifically, as per the information we received, the Armenian Prosecutor General's Office has suspended the powers of Ashot Martirosyan, the prosecutor of the Armavir region, and Aprés Grigoryan, the prosecutor of the Kotayk region, and has initiated an internal investigation against them. Why is this happening? The matter is that law enforcement officials discovered, through wiretaps on Ashot Martirosyan and Aprés Grigoryan, that they were expressing discontent, criticizing, and sharing various opinions about Vahan Sargsyan, the Armavir prosecutor, and Anna Vardapetyan, the Prosecutor General.

This internal discussion has proven to be fatal for the two prosecutors, leading Anna Vardapetyan to terminate their powers and start an internal investigation. However, the “witch hunt” and internal “purge” within the prosecutor's office did not end there. According to the information we received, the NSS has also intervened in the prosecutors' offices in the Kotayk and Armavir regions as a result of this wiretap, laying some prosecutors on the ground and conducting operations.

The second part of this drama has begun to unfold here. The behavior of Vahan Sargsyan, the prosecutor of the Armavir region, has started to be discussed among prosecutors during conversations with Arsén Martirosyan, who is investigating Serzh Sargsyan's case, and Petros Petrosyan, who is examining Robert Kocharyan's case. They have expressed less than favorable opinions about Vahan Sargsyan, as well as about Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan.

And this wiretap has led to the recent dismissal of prosecutors Arsén Martirosyan, Petros Petrosyan, and Gevorg Baghdasaryan, the deputy prosecutor general. The situation indicates that prosecutors are being dismissed for internal interpersonal conversations. In other words, Armenia has transformed into a country of wiretapping, where the freedom of speech of those opposing the political power is being violated.
