Canadian Forces Helicopter Crashes, Several Missing

Two members of the Royal Canadian Air Force are missing and two others are injured after a Chinook helicopter crashed into the Ottawa River near the Petawawa base early Tuesday morning, reports Ottawa CTV News.

The Canadian Department of National Defence confirmed that the CH-147 Chinook helicopter went down during a training flight. The incident occurred at 12:10 AM on Tuesday.

"The missing crew members were on board the helicopter at the time of the crash," stated a message from the Department of National Defence, adding that rescuers have located two other crew members and transported them to Pembroke Hospital.

According to the Department of National Defence, the missing individuals are members of the 450 Tactical Helicopter Squadron. Search efforts involve members of the Canadian Forces, Ontario Provincial Police Marine Unit, and fire departments from Petawawa and Pembroke.
