Armenia's Team Becomes Champion of the European Rapid Chess Pair Championship

Chess players Shant Sarkisyan and Elina Danielyan have become champions of the European Rapid Chess Pair Championship held in Krakow, Poland. This information was provided by the Armenian Chess Federation.

In the individual standings, Elina Danielyan secured the first place, while Shant Sarkisyan took second. As a result, Armenia finished in the top position in the team standings.

The teams from the Netherlands and Azerbaijan claimed the second and third spots, respectively.

The European Rapid Chess Championship featured the 8 teams with the highest average ratings as of March 1, 2023, according to FIDE. The representatives from Armenia, Poland, Ukraine, France, Romania, Germany, Azerbaijan, and the Netherlands sat at the chessboards in Krakow.

Each team comprises two chess players, one male and one female, with ratings of at least 2650 and 2350, respectively.

It is noteworthy that the European Rapid Chess Pair Championship commenced on June 19 and is being held as part of the European Games.
