Argentina's forward Lionel Messi has commented on his statements regarding his absence from the 2026 World Cup. He said, “It will be difficult for me to play there due to my age and the timing of the tournament. There are qualifying matches and the Copa America; it's still early to think about the World Cup,” according to TyC Sports.

It is noteworthy that the 2026 World Cup will take place in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Messi has moved to the American club Inter Miami. In the recently concluded 2022 World Cup held in Qatar, the Argentine national team was crowned champion, and Messi was recognized as the best player of the tournament.

In the completed season, Messi participated in 32 matches of the French league with PSG, scoring 16 goals and providing 16 assists.
