Russia Simplifies Citizenship Acquisition Process: Who Does It Affect?
Russia has expanded the list of professions for foreign nationals eligible for simplified citizenship acquisition. The corresponding document has been approved by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation.
The list of professions includes construction workers, healthcare professionals, agricultural workers, educators, journalists, engineers, and more, encompassing 203 professions across 14 categories.
It is worth noting that with the amendments to the "On Citizenship" law, the required period of residence in Russia for obtaining citizenship documents through simplified procedures is proposed to be reduced from 3 years to 1 year.
The draft law also aims to lower the requirements for more than 20 categories of individuals seeking Russian citizenship, as well as to expand the president's powers to determine the categories of persons eligible for simplified citizenship acquisition.
