Another Soldier Injured While Assisting Wounded Comrade, Driver Also Affected: Details from Investigative Committee

On June 15, 2023, between 1:00 PM and 1:30 PM, shots were fired from the combat positions located opposite the Hakari Bridge by the enemy, motivated by hatred, intolerance, or enmity based on racial, national, or ethnic origin, with the intention of unlawfully taking lives. The shots were directed at soldiers of the RA border guard unit.

According to the Investigative Committee, a serviceman of the RA National Security Service Border Troops, Arthur Azroyan, sustained gunshot wounds to his arm and abdomen while performing his duties. He was rushed to a medical center.

It was also revealed that while attempting to extract the injured serviceman, the driver's bulletproof vest of the medical assistance vehicle was torn by gunfire from the enemy's combat position. The serviceman experienced a minor scratch and pain but did not feel the need for further medical assistance after receiving first aid on-site.

In connection with these incidents, the RA Investigative Committee's Ninth Garrison Investigation Department has initiated two separate criminal proceedings under points 1 and 15 of the second part of Article 44-155 of the RA Criminal Code. An investigation is underway, during which necessary and immediate investigative and procedural actions are being conducted.
