55-Year-Old Resident Arrested for Attempting to Suffocate Father with Pillow

The Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting investigative and procedural actions in the Masis investigative division of the Ararat regional investigative department to clarify the circumstances regarding an attempted murder of a family member and physical assault.

According to the Committee, preliminary information indicates that on June 15, 2023, around 12:00 PM, a 37-year-old resident of Ararat region entered the living room of their home in Masis town and found his 55-year-old uncle, under the influence of alcohol, attempting to suffocate his 89-year-old grandfather, who was bedridden, by placing a pillow over his head.

The 37-year-old man immediately pulled his uncle aside and took the pillow away. Following this incident, the 55-year-old man attacked his sister's son, who is 37 years old, in the garage of their home while holding a knife, inflicting injuries.

The investigative actions have been initiated under Article 44-155, Part 2, Clause 9 and Article 195, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The crime scene examination was conducted, during which objects of interest to the investigation were identified and seized. Interrogations, seizures, and forensic examinations have been carried out. The 55-year-old man has been arrested.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
