18+ Images: The Mass Slaughter of Whales and Dolphins - A Horrific Tradition in the Faroe Islands
In the Faroe Islands, part of Denmark, there has been a massive slaughter of hundreds of whales. Armed with knives, locals have killed the animals on the beach, turning the water crimson. This information was reported by Daily Mail, noting that this tradition has a millennia-old history.
Fishers surround the whales and dolphins with boats, driving them into shallow waters where they are subsequently killed. It is known that whaling is not forbidden in the Faroe Islands; however, many environmental organizations are calling for an end to this tradition.
