Azerbaijan Prohibits All Humanitarian Transportation Through the Lachin Corridor

This morning, following an Azerbaijani provocation near the Hakari Bridge, all humanitarian passenger and cargo transport through the Kashatagh (Lachin) corridor has been prohibited by Azerbaijan. This was reported by the Information Headquarters of Artsakh.

“In particular, the International Committee of the Red Cross was transporting 25 patients and their relatives from Artsakh to Armenia, but their vehicles were barred from proceeding at the illegal Azerbaijani checkpoint in the Kashatagh corridor, forcing them to return to Stepanakert. Moreover, the passenger transport route from Stepanakert to Goris and back, planned for today due to urgent humanitarian needs, was canceled and was to be conducted under the supervision of Russian peacekeepers,” the publication states.

It was also noted that the movement of Russian peacekeepers' cargo vehicles heading to Goris for humanitarian transport has been halted. “The authorities of the Republic of Artsakh once again note that the illegal Azerbaijani checkpoint established in the Kashatagh (Lachin) corridor poses a significant danger and obstacle to ensuring free movement between Artsakh and Armenia. Today’s incident once again confirms the existence of these dangers and obstacles, further threatening the limited movement of people and goods even under dire humanitarian needs by the Red Cross and Russian peacekeepers,” reported the Information Headquarters of Artsakh.

The authorities of Artsakh reiterate their position that the regime of the Lachin corridor, as stipulated by the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, must be ensured immediately and unconditionally without any Azerbaijani interference, as well as the implementation of the International Court of Justice's ruling on this matter issued on February 22, 2023,” said the Information Headquarters of Artsakh.
