“The Situation is Not Encouraging at This Time”: Kerobyan on Grape Procurement
The Minister of Economy, Vahan Kerobyan, has addressed the expected volumes of apricot and grape harvests and the procurement process. According to him, in Jrarat, farmers have complained about the prices for apricot procurement. “We will summarize the scale of the problem and possible solutions within a day or two,” he stated.
Kerobyan noted that competitor Uzbekistan significantly subsidizes logistics costs for apricot exports. “We need to analyze the situation in our and export markets, but we will try to ensure proper procurement of the harvest quickly.”
Speaking about the volumes of grape procurement, Kerobyan mentioned that the deadline for signing contracts is July 1. “We have had several discussions with the heads of companies engaged in grape procurement to understand their plans. At this time, the situation is not encouraging. There are no signs that the entire grape harvest will be procured,” he concluded.
