9-Year-Old Girl Not Abducted, but Subjected to Sexual Violence; Perpetrator Sought

A photograph of a man has been circulating online for several days, accompanied by a message: 'If anyone knows the whereabouts of this individual, please contact the police immediately, before he abducts other children.'

According to Auroranews, the man in question remains unidentified and has not been located yet.

Though the police issued a vague statement days ago indicating that the man is being sought, information circulating online and data in the possession of Auroranews suggest that the man has committed a sexual violent act against a 9-year-old girl.

The Investigative Committee confirmed our information. 'A criminal case has been initiated under part 4 of Article 198 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (sexual assault). An examination has been appointed, and the child has been recognized as a victim, but the identity of the perpetrator has not yet been established,' stated Gor Abrahamyan, the spokesperson for the Investigative Committee.

Abrahamyan also noted that the child has not been abducted. The Investigative Committee confirmed that the incident took place in the Davtashen residential area.
