NATO Begins Largest Air Exercises in Alliance History
NATO has commenced the largest air exercises in the alliance's history, named "Air Defender 23", in Europe on Monday. The exercises are coordinated by Germany.
According to France 24, these exercises are being conducted in a demonstration of military alliance unity against potential threats, particularly from Russia.
Led by Germany, "Air Defender 23" will last until June 23 and involve approximately 250 military aircraft from 25 NATO member and partner countries, including Japan and Sweden, which is seeking to join the alliance.
Up to 10,000 personnel will participate in "Air Defender 23". The drills are designed to enhance interoperability and readiness to defend against drone and cruise missile attacks on cities, airports, or maritime ports within NATO territory.
