Artsakh Calls on Russia to Align Strategic Interests for Regional Security
The President of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan, has called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to unite strategic interests and efforts to ensure security in the South Caucasus.
“Now, when Azerbaijan is doing everything possible to undermine the fragile architecture of security in Artsakh and the region, as well as Russia's guarantees through the ongoing blockade and threats to Artsakh, we are confident that through the harmonization of our strategic interests and the unification of our efforts, our two peoples will succeed in ensuring a stable and dignified environment in the region for all sides,” reads the statement.
In a message to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the occasion of Russia Day, Harutyunyan noted that the centuries-old friendship between the Armenian and Russian peoples, as well as the strategic and allied relations between the Armenian and Russian states, have formed a significant history and great potential for further development. He emphasized that Artsakh has had and continues to have its own unique place in Armenian-Russian relations as a key actor in the South Caucasus.
“The people of Artsakh highly appreciate Russia's and your personal role in halting the bloodshed in 2020 and in preventing further large-scale aggressions and tragedies in Artsakh. The people of Artsakh have warmly welcomed the mission of the Russian peacekeepers, seeing them as strong guarantees for living freely and with dignity in their homeland,” Harutyunyan noted.
