VIDEO: Thick Layer of Smoke in Washington
Terrifying forest fires continue in Canada, as reported by Reuters. According to the publication, a thick layer of smoke has reached all the way to Washington. Traffic has diminished, and there are fewer people than usual on trains. Those on the streets are wearing medical masks. Some companies have even instructed their employees to work remotely. Certain city services have also been suspended.
According to forecasts from AccuWeather, this is the worst case of forest fires occurring in the northeastern United States in the last 20 years.
Local authorities continue to urge people to stay at home, as the smoke generated by the forest fires could lead to a number of respiratory illnesses due to high levels of fine particles in the atmosphere.
It has also been reported that, according to data from the Washington government, the level of air pollution is above the 'hazardous' threshold.
Additionally, it is worth noting that yesterday, June 8, U.S. President Joe Biden announced on his Twitter page that 600 firefighters and special equipment have been sent to Canada to combat the devastating wildfires.
