VIDEO: The State Revenue Committee Discovers 2 Books Filled with 1.5 kg of Methamphetamine
Recently, employees of the Smuggling Prevention Department of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia, acting on operational information received, conducted customs control on an international parcel sent from Armenia to Australia at the cargo terminal of the Zvartnots International Airport.
During the inspection of the shipment, among other items, two books filled with methamphetamine were discovered, with a total weight of 1.5 kg.
According to the information provided by the Public Relations Department of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia, following the discovery of the mentioned substance, urgent operational and investigative measures were taken. It was reported that the sender of the shipment was identified as a citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran, E.B.
The citizen was located and arrested, after which he was transferred to the Economic Crimes and Smuggling Investigations Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
A report on the smuggling incident was prepared by the Smuggling Prevention Department officials, and the items found during the personal search, along with the detected quantities of narcotics, were provided to the Investigative Committee, where criminal proceedings were initiated under Article 399 of the RA Criminal Code.
The operational and investigative measures carried out by the Smuggling Prevention Department of the State Revenue Committee are ongoing to identify other individuals potentially involved in the illegal trafficking of the mentioned drug.
