Video: Clashes Between LGBTQ Community and Students' Parents in Glendale

Clashes occurred in Glendale between protesters and representatives of the LGBTQ community. ABC7.com reports on the incident. A meeting of the Glendale Unified School District's board was expected to take place to vote on designating June as 'Pride Month.' Parents of students organized a protest against the inclusion of LGBTQ topics in the school curriculum.

According to Glendale police, three individuals were arrested on various charges, including obstructing police. Around 500 people participated in the protest.

'Although most of the protests were peaceful, a small group of individuals exhibited aggressive behavior and posed a threat to public safety,' the police statement said.

Protesters claimed that the state educational curriculum and, consequently, the policies of the Glendale Unified School District regarding LGBTQ issues violate their parental rights. On Friday, dozens of parents held a demonstration near Saticoy Elementary School in North Hollywood to protest against the 'Pride Month' conference.

Parents organizing the protest stated that they do not condemn the LGBTQ+ community but wish to have the right to decide what and when their children learn about these topics.
