Numerous Landmines Swept Away by Water Near Kakhovka HPP: Care International
Numerous landmines have been swept away by water near the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, warns Care International.
The international charity organization Care International is raising alarms about the dangers posed by landmines that could have been carried away by water following the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant's dam.
In a statement, Care International expressed particular concern that the mines could now be present in the water flow that has flooded areas adjacent to the hydroelectric power plant.
Fabris Martin, the head of Care International in Ukraine, stated, "Many landmines are floating in the water in the area where the Kakhovka dam used to be, and they pose a huge threat." He also mentioned that the destruction of the dam could have disastrous consequences for the surrounding environment.
