“Vahe Ghazaryan Brings His Dream Policeman” - Ioannisyan
“Today, a red beret officer is beating an innocent person on the street, the head of the Dilijan police division who beat a child weeks ago, operatives who assaulted lawyers at the Erebuni department, and countless incidents that the public is unaware of. This was stated by Daniel Ioannisyan, the head of the ‘Informed Citizens’ Union.
The five months of Vahe Ghazaryan’s tenure have shown that not only has nothing changed for the better, but, on the contrary, there is a slow regression. Previously, the idea was to have a police force serving the community, whereas now, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Vahe Ghazaryan, introduces his dream policeman, whose authority is built on instilling fear within the public.
In Ghazaryan's system, only patrol officers who attempt to build authority based on serving the community rather than instilling fear are subjected to punishment and criticism (the statistics supporting this will be published tomorrow).
P.S. It is now clear why the NGOs withdrew from the council on police reforms. Because we do not want to share the responsibility for the value retreat with Vahe Ghazaryan.”
It should be noted that yesterday evening, there was an incident between citizens and police officers at the venue of the Yerevan Wine Festival.
