Video: The Death Toll from Train Collision in India Rises to 288

In India, the death toll from a railway disaster has reached 288. The information is reported by the AFP agency, referencing Sudhanshu Sarangi, the head of the state's firefighting service. According to Indian media, around 900 people have been injured.

The tragedy occurred on the evening of June 2 (18:20 Yerevan time) in the Balasore district of Odisha state. As previously reported by a representative of the railway transportation ministry, 10-12 carriages of a passenger train derailed. Another passenger train collided with them, resulting in three carriages going off the rails. Following that, there was another collision with a freight train that was stopped on the tracks.

Rescue teams and over 200 ambulances have been dispatched to the accident site. The injured have been transferred to hospitals. Search operations are ongoing, as there may still be passengers trapped in the overturned carriages.
