Putin's Alleged Mother Dies

Vera Putina, a woman who claimed to be the mother of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has died at the age of 97 in Georgia. According to Mtavari TV, her funeral took place on May 30 in the village of Metekhi, Georgia.

Vera Putina was born in 1926 in the village of Terekhino, located in the Perm region of the RSFSR. According to her own testimony, she met a married man there, with whom she had a child named Vova (Vladimir Putin). Later, she married a Georgian and moved to Metekhi with her son. She claimed that her stepfather mistreated Vova, leading her to send him to Russia to live with his grandparents, after which she did not see him again.

Vera Putina also claimed that she recognized Vladimir Putin as her Vova the moment she saw him on television. Journalists supporting this theory have noted that there is very little real information about Putin's childhood. Residents of the village of Metekhi enjoy discussing this story, which has become more intriguing with each telling. For instance, it is said that at one point, security services were assigned to Vera, and she underwent a DNA test. It was suspected that security services took all of her son's old photographs and documents from her.

In recent years, Vera Putina had not been in contact with journalists. In 2022, the Formula TV channel reported that she was unwell and that her relatives had moved her to Tbilisi. According to the official biography of the Russian president, Putin was born on October 7, 1952, in Leningrad. His father was Vladimir Spiridonovich Putin (1911-1999), and his mother was Maria Ivanovna Putina (née Shelomova) (1911-1998).
