Leaders of Armenian Churches in the U.S. Call on Biden
Spiritual leaders of the Armenian Apostolic, Catholic, and Evangelical churches in America have sent a letter to U.S. President Joe Biden, warning that being under Azerbaijan's jurisdiction would mean a death sentence for Artsakh. The information was reported by the Armenian Genocide Committee of America.
“As spiritual leaders of American Christians of Armenian descent, we urge you to firmly stand against any attempt to incorporate the Christian Armenians of Artsakh into Azerbaijan. That country is clearly committed to the ethnic cleansing of the indigenous population of this ancient part of the Armenian homeland. Any arrangement that subjects the democratic citizens of Artsakh to autocratic Azerbaijan would be a death sentence for these holy lands, which are home to 120,000 men, women, and children and, of course, countless sacred sites,” the letter states.
The authors of the letter also call for the cessation of military aid to Azerbaijan and emphasize that Americans should never be complicit in the genocidal violence that Azerbaijan may perpetrate against Armenians.
