I Call to Remember the 30,000 Children Living Under Blockade in Artsakh: Ruben Vardanian
Today, as you all celebrate Children's Day in Armenia and elsewhere, take a moment to remember that 30,000 children have been living under blockade conditions in Artsakh for almost six months. This was stated by Ruben Vardanian, the former State Minister of the Republic of Artsakh, on his Facebook page.
"30,000 CHILDREN who are deprived of their most essential rights, 30,000 CHILDREN who live under the constant threats and aggression of Azerbaijan, who, unlike their peers in many countries, have already experienced what a blockade is, what cold feels like, what malnutrition is, and, like adults, understand what it means to face the danger of losing their homeland, their friends, and their home..."
To individuals, organizations, especially international organizations engaged in the protection of children's rights, I call to remember the children of Artsakh before posting beautiful words, texts, and photos, to set aside routine statements and think about what should be done to protect the rights of Artsakh's children, which have been violated for six months now.
I look into the eyes of the children of Artsakh and feel a huge responsibility towards them. I, Ruben Vardanian, am responsible for ensuring that these children continue to grow up here, receive an education, find their happiness, create families, and give life to new generations of Armenians. Anyone who holds Artsakh and its children dear, who truly cares about children's rights, must take personal responsibility for the future of the children of Artsakh," Vardanian wrote.
