From June 1, the law will be enforced: Police make a statement
The Police of the Republic of Armenia has made a statement. "The Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia had previously announced that, in accordance with the provisions of domestic legislation and the technical regulations of the Customs Union, the light transmission of front side windows of vehicles must be at least 70%, and that the law will be enforced starting June 1." Continuous monitoring has shown that most drivers, responding to the Police's calls, have already removed the tints and replaced them with tinted glass.
On this issue, deputies from the 'Civil Contract' faction met with the Minister of Internal Affairs Vahe Ghazaryan at the initiative of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Defense and Security. Considering the number of vehicles with tinted windows, the short timeframe for eliminating the violation, and the impracticality of sharply changing the law enforcement practice, the deputies proposed to achieve the desired outcome with minimal administrative intervention.
At the same time, various media sources have circulated different, sometimes misleading comments regarding the issue or facts that do not correspond to the police's upcoming actions. We find it necessary to note that: — The Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia has urged and continues to urge the removal of tinting from front side windows or the replacement of tinted glass while maintaining permissible levels of light transmission. — Starting June 1, patrol and traffic police will ensure the practical implementation of the law. Along with enforcement, we will continue to emphasize explanatory work because our goal is not just to apply liability, but to ensure traffic safety and promote lawful behavior."
