During the discussion of the package of draft amendments to the law on "Military Service and the Status of Servicemen," Gohar Manukyan, a member of the "Armenia" faction, addressed the Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan, saying: "For example, if someone gets married, submits an application, and proceeds to enlist, naturally, during the 6-month service, they will be granted short leaves, and upon return, it turns out that they are pregnant, what will happen?"

"If we have such joyful cases, we will only welcome it," the minister replied.

It is worth noting that there are plans to introduce a system of voluntary mandatory military service for female citizens. According to the minister, female citizens aged 18-27 can apply, with the mandatory military service duration set at 6 months.
