VIDEO: Let Opposition Civil Forces Not Join Us, Says Driver

Starting June 1, patrol officers and traffic police will identify vehicles that violate the transparency standards of windows and will impose administrative penalties equivalent to twenty-five times the minimum wage. According to the provisions of national legislation and the technical regulations of the Customs Union, the transparency of the front side windows of vehicles should be at least 70%.

Drivers have initiated a protest in the capital. “This is not just about the ‘foil law’. There are many issues concerning us drivers. The thing is, if they want to do something but it doesn’t work out, they start to clamp down on drivers and their cars. You know very well that for years now, people have not been able to import cheap cars from abroad. For instance, there’s a person who only has two thousand dollars and wants to bring a car from Georgia. The customs duties have been set to six thousand dollars; how much will that person have to work in their life to pay that?” said one of the participants in the protest during an interview with reporters.

The driver also mentioned that they do not want opposition lawmakers to join their cause. “Let opposition civil forces not join us; we don’t want that because whenever something happens, the opposition comes and gets involved. This is a matter for us drivers.”
