VIDEO: Ara Fidanyan on Police Officer's Statement 'Nikol Belongs to All of Us'

The Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Ara Fidanyan, in a conversation with journalists, addressed the statement made by a police officer on the road to Sardarapat, who said, 'Nikol belongs to all of us.' In response to a reporter's question about whether it is the police's duty to impose governmental views on citizens, he indicated that he could not comment on this specific incident.

‘I heard from you that there is some sort of circumstance regarding this. The police has always carried out the functions assigned to it by law, namely ensuring public order and safety,’ said the official.

It is noteworthy that, in connection with the Prime Minister of Armenia's visit to the Sardarapat Memorial, the police had closed the road. A citizen expressed his frustration to the police: ‘You’ve been saying for 2 hours that the road will be opened in 5 minutes. Let me go home; I’m tired. For what, for your Nikol? All this military presence to keep him safe, he should come himself, take a position. Open the road for me.’ To this, the police officer responded, ‘Nikol is ours.’
