Ashot Pashinyan and Gayane Martirosyan's Case is Under the Court's Jurisdiction, Says Lawyer
The case of Ashot Pashinyan and the mother of the deceased serviceman Zhora Martirosyan, Gayane Martirosyan (Hakobyan), is now under the jurisdiction of the court. This was announced by Hovsep Sargsyan, a member of Martirosyan's legal team, at a press conference.
“As of Friday, the case has been sent to the prosecutor conducting the relevant judicial oversight from the Armenian Prosecutor General's Office. According to the information we have, the materials of the case have today been forwarded with an indictment to the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan,” said the lawyer. “It is not known to the defense who the judge is or where the case currently rests.”
He noted that the preliminary investigation lasted a relatively short time, from May 17 to 25. Eight days later, the completion of the preliminary investigation was announced. “Thus, the materials of the case have also been provided to the defense, and with unprecedented diligence, the preliminary investigation has concluded, and the case is now in the court's jurisdiction,” Sargsyan stated.
He also mentioned that before declaring the completion of the preliminary investigation, the pre-trial body announced a change in the previously initiated criminal prosecution regarding the initiation of a new criminal case under the first part of Article 191, which pertains to the abduction of a person with respect to their state, political, official, professional, or social activities or obligations.
