VIDEO: Deputy Commander of Iran's Police Forces and Ground Forces Commander Head to Clash Site
Deputy Commander of the Chief of Iran's Police Forces, Brigadier General Qasem Rezaei, and the Commander of the Ground Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Kiomars Heydari, have traveled to Sistan, where clashes are ongoing with the Taliban.
It has been recalled that the Taliban in Afghanistan released a video showing their assault on an Iranian border post. At the same time, the Taliban leader Abdulhamid Khurasani announced that the Taliban are declaring war on Iran.
Reports also indicate that two people have died as a result of the clashes with the Taliban, with both sides blaming each other for starting the conflict.
The clash has occurred this month following a warning from Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who demanded that the Taliban refrain from violating Iran's water rights in the Helmand River. He also accused the Afghan Taliban leaders of violating the 1973 treaty by restricting the flow of water from the river to Iran's arid eastern regions. The Taliban have denied the accusations.
