Serbia's President Resigns from Ruling Party Leadership

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has announced his resignation from the leadership of the Serbian Progressive Party (SPP). This was reported by RIA Novosti.

He has proposed the candidacy of Defense Minister Miloš Vučević for this position.

On May 26, Vučić stated that the authorities intend to convene an emergency meeting of Serbia's National Security Council in response to the escalating situation in the partially recognized Republic of Kosovo.

Clashes with protesters in the north of the partially recognized Republic of Kosovo have resulted in injuries to five police officers, and at least seven vehicles have been damaged.
