Moscow Hopes at Least Two Documents Will Be Adopted: Kommersant

Today, on May 25, a trilateral summit will take place in Moscow with the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia—Ilham Aliyev, Nikol Pashinyan, and Vladimir Putin—in attendance. According to Kommersant, "Moscow hopes that at least two documents will be adopted following the summit," as reported by the news outlet.

According to the publication, "the coordination of these documents took the whole day on May 24. One was prepared by the deputy prime ministers regarding the unblocking of transport communications. The other, the fifth joint statement by Aliyev, Pashinyan, and Putin, was refined by the foreign ministries of the three countries.

The media emphasizes that the adoption of these documents, which officialize the Russian side's mediation activities following the end of the second Nagorno-Karabakh war in the autumn of 2020, allows Moscow to speak about specific results of the work undertaken and highlight its role in the South Caucasus (no documents were adopted after the results of negotiations in the U.S. in early May and in Brussels on May 14).

It is noteworthy that the Prime Minister of Armenia traveled to Moscow yesterday, while Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan is already in Russia.
