VIDEO: The Current Landfill Will Be Completely Closed - Avinyan

There are 3 key initiatives aimed at addressing the waste management issue. Yerevan’s Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan referred to the plans for constructing a new landfill.

“The current landfill is being conserved, it will be entirely closed, and a new, different type of landfill will be built a few kilometers away from this one. It will not have the same appearance; seagulls will not be circling around the landfill, as it will be closed,” Avinyan stated.

He also informed that discussions are ongoing with Portuguese and French companies regarding the establishment of a recycling plant. A pilot project will be launched to understand what issues exist within the project.

“The issue related to waste requires a comprehensive solution,” the Deputy Mayor added.
