Zelensky Compares Hiroshima to Bakhmut

During the G7 summit in Japan, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky compared Hiroshima, which was devastated by an American nuclear bomb, to Bakhmut while responding to a question about whether it would be better to discuss peace negotiations instead. According to RIA Novosti, during a press conference, a journalist from RCC television in Hiroshima mentioned that among the survivors of the bombing, there are opinions suggesting that Zelensky's participation in this summit is crucial for requesting military aid in the form of weapons. However, they questioned whether it would be more appropriate to discuss establishing peace to end the war while in Hiroshima, a city that endured a bombing.

The journalist also added that some survivors of the Hiroshima bombing feel a certain disquiet about the happenings in the city during the summit.

Zelensky remarked, "What happened in Hiroshima reminds me of Bakhmut. What we see now will be the same in Bakhmut and other cities. Unfortunately, today it is a tragedy. Therefore, when you say 'ask,' we are not asking; we are being invited."
