Video: "The Idea of Music and Stepping Outside Our Homes Unites Us" Says 90-Year-Old Singer from "Marjan" Choir

A newly formed choir of grandmothers from Gyumri, the "Marjan" choir, plans to expand its repertoire.

Marina Manucharyan, the choir leader and the custodian of exhibits at the Hovhannes Shiraz Museum in Gyumri, told an Armenpress correspondent that the oldest member of the choir is 90 years old, and the youngest is 70.

“The idea of music and stepping outside our homes unites us,” said 90-year-old Bethlehem Poghosyan, noting that she has always loved singing but never imagined she would sing in a choir.

The choir currently has 10 members, and its repertoire is still small, with only two or three songs. However, the grandmothers are very eager to learn new songs. They meet twice a week in the museum's yard and have already participated in several concerts.
