If the court accepts the request for the detention of Gayane Hakobyan, the mother of the deceased Zhora Martirosyan from the 44-day war, she is expected to face a prison sentence of 4-8 years, said her lawyer Vahan Hovhannisyan in a conversation with journalists before the start of the court session regarding the case of alleged 'kidnapping' of Ashot Pashinyan.

“Three grounds for preventive measures were presented: flight risk, committing a new crime, and failure to fulfill obligations imposed on her during the trial, which could be manifested through illegal influence on witnesses. During the examination of the petition, the prosecutor and investigators rejected the flight risk basis. As we understood, it was either a technical error or they reached the conclusion during the examination of the petition that they should withdraw it,” Hovhannisyan emphasized, noting that this was an unprecedented phenomenon in his professional practice.

When asked what responsibility Gayane Hakobyan faces if the testimony is accepted, the lawyer noted that Article 191, Clause 1 of the second part specifies a prison sentence of 4-8 years, as it is considered a serious crime.
