Changes in Air Quality Due to Landfill Fire, Ministry of Environment

The Ministry of Environment's Hydrometeorological and Monitoring Center has reported the state of air pollution in Yerevan on May 18-19.

The dust concentration in the Kentron administrative district has exceeded the maximum allowable concentration (MAC) by 1.6 times. The nitrogen dioxide levels in Nor Nork also exceeded the MAC by 1.2 times.

Although the sulfur dioxide levels did not exceed the respective maximum allowable concentration, there was an observed increase in concentration at all monitoring stations compared to previous days.

The landfill fire in Nubarashen may release additional harmful pollutants into the atmosphere, such as dioxins, polychlorinated biphenyls, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and other pollutants. Further monitoring will provide citizens with additional information.
