No Diplomatic Complaint Received by Yerevan Regarding ‘Nemesis’ Statue from Ankara
In connection with the opening of the monument dedicated to the "Knights of National Dignity," official Yerevan has not received any diplomatic complaint from Ankara, as stated by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in response to a question from "Azatutyun."
Days after the installation of the monument named "Nemesis," Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said in an interview with a local media outlet that Ankara had warned Yerevan, saying, "if you do not remove the statue, it is unacceptable, and there will be retaliatory steps as well."
Previously, Ankara had closed its airspace to the Armenian side, justifying the decision with the installation of the statue of Armenian avengers.
"Azatutyun" also inquired with the Armenian Foreign Ministry about the status of the implementation of last year’s agreement between Yerevan and Ankara to open the Armenian-Turkish border for citizens of third countries and individuals with diplomatic passports. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "The Republic of Armenia continues to work on this matter with Turkey." However, the ministry did not provide an answer as to when the Armenian-Turkish state border will be reopened.
